RIP: The bottom of the webpage

I was spending some time over the weekend doing what most other millennial/zoomer crossover freaks usually do: scrolling web pages on one of the many rectangles I own. It struck me. Something had been missing from my browsing experience, and I don’t really know when it disappeared?

Website footers.

Reddit. Bluesky. Youtube. News websites. They all seem to have silently dropped the bottom of the webpage into the abyss. Websites now descend endlessly into a yawning chasm of AI slop and reposts. Where did the bottom go?? What happened to it? Is it still there?

Maybe if I scroll far enough, I’ll find it once again. Hope to see you again soon, friend.
